Polypectomy

Polyps are tumors with malignant potential originating in the mucous membranes. In the case of the digestive tract, they can be removed during endoscopic procedures, and this procedure is known as polypectomy. It is performed through the channel of the endoscopic equipment, with the introduction of accessories that produce cuts and burns, and allow the extraction of these lesions, which are sent for histopathological study that enables their classification, prognosis and control.

Argon plasma therapy

It is a procedure to perform fulguration (burning with tissue destruction). It is performed with a probe connected to an electrical source, through which argon gas flows, which, with the electricity, causes a small flame that burns the tissue. It is used to cauterize small blood vessels and prevent bleeding; it can also be used to burn tissue, as is the case with some polyps or tumors.

Dilations

It is a therapeutic procedure to dilate tubular organs such as the esophagus, pylorus, colon, intestine, bile ducts and others that have narrow areas. This is performed using endoscopic procedures, with the use, through the working channel of the endoscopic equipment, of different types of accessories that allow dilation and recovery of the organ's lumen. In some cases it is performed with balloons and in others with stents. In the case of the esophagus, it can also be performed by successively passing solid dilating instruments.

Endoscopic Mucosectomy

It is a therapeutic procedure performed during endoscopic examination and consists of removing a fragment of the mucous layer from the wall of the digestive organs. It is performed using, through the working channel of the endoscopic equipment, different types of accessories that allow identifying, marking and elevating the area of the mucosa where the lesion to be removed is located, and through cutting instruments the defined area is extracted, with the recovery of the extracted material for later histopathological study.

Chromoendoscopy

It is a complementary procedure to endoscopic surgery, where the color of the mucosal surface is changed, either with dyes or with light filters, which allows the visualization of lesions with characteristics and limits that are difficult or impossible to observe with white light.
